The ARRB Systems engineering and technical team has arrived in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for the International Conference on the Bearing Capacity of Roads, Railways and Airfields (BCRRA 2026).
As global authorities gather to discuss transport infrastructure longevity, our team is showcasing how modern network-level survey services are transforming traditional asset management strategies.
The event commenced with specialized workshop sessions. Klavs Olsen and Herman Visser presented critical insights at the Traffic Speed Deflectometer Device (TSDD) Quality Control workshop, while Jerome Daleiden represented the team at the Deflection at Road Traffic Speed (DaRTS) meeting.
With the main conference program underway, our Principal Engineers are delivering an extensive line-up of peer-reviewed technical presentations. They will demonstrate how integrating continuous pavement deflection analysis into a centralised road condition assessment system allows road authorities to identify sub-surface structural degradation at traffic speeds.
Technical Presentation Agenda
Our attending specialists—Klavs Olsen, Herman Visser, Jerome Daleiden, and Ildiko Boström—will be presenting peer-reviewed research across several key sessions:
Klavs Olsen
- Structural Evaluation: Research on continuously reinforced concrete pavements using traffic-speed deflectometer technology.
- Pavement Deterioration: Methods for achieving an improved assessment of structural degradation using the iPAVe.
Herman Visser
- Environmental Factors: Analyzing how moisture content influences long-term structural behaviour.
- Machine Learning Applications: A machine learning-based approach to pavement structural capacity estimation using data collected by Traffic Speed Deflectometers (TSD).
Jerome (Jerry) Daleiden
- Poster Session: Incorporation of Structural Response in Pavement Management.
- Poster Session: ARRB Systems Global Initiatives to Advance Comprehensive Pavement Assessments.
Driving Global Infrastructure Discussions
Structural evaluation and comprehensive pavement assessment are at the core of what we do. Events like BCRRA 2026 allow our team to collaborate with global authorities, sharing data-driven strategies that improve network safety, efficiency, and infrastructure longevity worldwide.
We look forward to the insights, technical debates, and collaborative discussions over the coming days.
Stay Tuned: We will provide an in-depth follow-up summary detailing the outcomes, technical papers, and photos from the presentations following the conclusion of the event.
