Proven Performance: iPAVe System Verification Initiatives Deliver Data Confidence
ARRB Systems believes in data you can trust. That’s why we just completed two intensive verification projects to prove the consistent, high-accuracy performance of our North American iPAVe fleet.
These initiatives done with major state highway departments and leading transportation research universities, confirm that the iPAVe delivers reliable, actionable data for smarter infrastructure investment decisions across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Phase One: Benchmarking Against the FWD
The first verification phase was a major partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, and The University of Texas at El Paso.
In the Dallas District, our team ran a side-by-side comparison of deflection data from the iPAVe against the industry standard, the Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), on an instrumented road.
The outcome was clear: the iPAVe delivered consistent, reliable performance across every parameter tested, proving it can match the structural insights of the FWD but at highway speeds.
Phase Two: Advanced LDV Sensor Check
Shortly after the Texas initiative, the iPAVe systems traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia, for a critical follow-up verification.
Working with the Virginia Technical Transportation Institute, advanced Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) sensors were used for cross-referencing. Once again, both iPAVe units demonstrated the same high level of accuracy and dependability. This confirms the system’s overall reliability and its capability to integrate with specialized technologies.
Delivering Confidence, Not Just Data
This work is about one thing: giving our clients the confidence to make critical, informed decisions. By proving consistency and reliability against multiple industry standards, ARRB Systems is empowering clients to save money, extend pavement life, and enhance public safety.
A big thank you to the key partners who made this successful verification possible: Jenny Li, Senthilmurugan Thyagarajan, Tom Scullion, Soheil Nazarian, Gerardo Flintsch, Samer Katiha, and Ernesto Urbaez.
